How To Choose And Care For Designer Luggage

Designer luggage is available in a wide range of colors and materials. While canvas or leather luggage can really last, those attractive tapestry print pieces may not make it through even one trip without getting snagged or torn. Nylon wears quite well, but is a bit lightweight for people who travel frequently.
Of course, while designer luggage is usually sturdier and more stylish, no one should shop for luggage strictly because it has a certain label. Take a close look at any luggage you are considering to be sure that it is the right size and style for you. Don’t let yourself be pressured into buying a complete set of expensive matching luggage if you don’t have a use for all of the different pieces. If you love shoes, you may want to shop for a second suitcase so that you have plenty of room for footwear. On the other hand, if you like dressy clothes, you may want to look for a garment bag instead of a big suitcase.
If you have a bad back, don’t forget to look for an essential piece of designer luggage, the wheeled suitcase. In fact, these suitcases are so much easier to haul around that you may want to choose wheeled luggage even if you don’t have any medical problems.
Designer luggage that can be locked is especially important if you will be staying in hotels or other places where your belongings are not necessarily secure. Although these locks may not be sturdy enough to prevent a determined thief, they will discourage people who are just seizing the opportunity to snoop or to pick up a few trinkets. Remember though that any locks have to be “TSA” approved or your locks could be broken by security at the airport.
Once you decide which of the many designer luggage styles is right for you, there are a few things you can do to keep those pieces looking great. Although most people toss their luggage in the attic when they aren’t traveling, the temperature extremes in an attic are not kind to luggage. You may want to try storing your luggage under the bed or in the back of your closet instead. Also, try not to stack things on top of your luggage, since the corners can be broken down by excessive weight.
Finally, don’t forget to keep your luggage in shape by cleaning it after you take a trip. Begin by cleaning each piece out completely, since things like a broken bottle of perfume can really mess up a nice suitcase. Then, wipe down the outside of each piece with a slightly soapy cloth if it is made with nylon or canvas. Leather luggage should be cleaned with saddle soap.

Some of the features that traveler’s need in luggage will be what is considered durable. The retractable handles on each piece of luggage will be brought up and down many times during a day. These mechanisms must operate on command in most cases because a traveler does not have time to waste when it comes time to deplane or board a tram on the way to the next airport terminal station. Travelers expect bumps and dents to occur in the luggage they use for business but they also need to be able to rely on it getting there belongings home in one piece.
People can often see how durable a piece of luggage will be by the amount of machine stitching that goes around the outside edge of the luggage being carried. The durability of this strip will be tested when a traveler rounds certain corners, and at the end of the day the traveler will know if the durability test proved that the luggage was truly high quality because the strip withstood the abuse it took quite well. Some luggage items that were used in the past had strips that frayed and looked terrible after only two or three days.
Many quality luggage items will feature steel frames on the inside of all luggage that were purchased in a set. These steel frames kept the sides of the luggage from sagging and gave the outward appearance of being durable and strong. The marble texture of the luggage materials gave the appearance that the surface was hard as a turtle shell. The fashion designers had definitely worked their magic with this brand because the luggage was cleverly crafted to be both durable and beautiful to look at.
There are certain occasions where a traveler might need to stack luggage in storage compartments while riding on a train. The durability of the luggage will certainly be tested while traveling this method and some travelers are not as confident as others and do not trust their luggage selections to hold up. They will keep track of which luggage items fare better than others through the various modes of transportation they use on a trip. At the end of the road, there mind might be made up on which new style of luggage they want to own when they return home.
A luggage set that meets all expectations that a traveler has while traveling will normally be the topic of conversation at business meetings in the future. Travelers will make it a point to tell all business associates how helpful a piece of luggage was in impressing clients during the last meeting. Then he is sure to go into greater detail about which durable features stood out best among all the features that the luggage set possessed. The last topic that will be discussed is which luggage set cost more or less and provided more or less for the money that spent.

Travel Luggage - What Features Should Travelers Look For?

Make sure that you always buy wheel-equipped luggage, including your carry-on. Check and make sure that the telescopic handles will lock in both the low and high positions. This is especially important if you are a tall person, as you don’t want to be always stooping over just to pull your luggage along.
One of the top-of-the-line, wheeled, nineteen inch roller board carry-ons is TravelPro’s FlightPro4. Another top brand name luggage is Tumi.
It’s a good idea to carry luggage bungee cords with you to tie down any piggybacked luggage you may have.
What important things should you look for in larger-sized luggage?
Soft-sided luggage is superior to hard-sided suitcases because the locks on the latter can easily break open when your luggage is unceremoniously thrown around. Luggage handlers have a well-deserved reputation when it comes to not being gentle when it comes to transferring luggage to and from airplanes to airport terminals. The luggage should be sewn with strong and durable, 1,000 denier cordura nylon or polyester. It should also have double or triple stitching as well as extra reinforcing at all stress points. Each piece of luggage should have a padded, expandable handle that will lock into both short and long handle positions. All luggage that you buy should be light-weight, expandable, and have outside pockets. Look for brightly colored luggage because it is easier to pick out as it circles endlessly around the carousel. Your luggage should have large zippers and wide, rubber, recessed wheels.
Luggage reviews can be researched on the website LuggageOnLine.com.
If you are planning to purchase luggage that has detachable handles or straps, you should take them off at the airport, so they don’t get hung up on conveyer belts.
What should you look for in a backpack?
When shopping for a backpack, it should be lightweight and feel comfortable while you are wearing it when it is full. Gender-specific design and a built-in lumbar support are two important features that will greatly increase your comfort. The backpack should also have a weather resistant polyurethane coating, a zip-off day pack, outside and inside pockets as well as a hip belt with pockets, and adjustable, padded, wide straps. The backpack’s carrying capacity should be approximately 4,000 to 5,000 cubic inches.
Some backpacks have a light-weight steel mesh grid sewn inside to prevent valuable personal items from falling out if it is slashed by a robber while it is being worn.
Three of the top-of-the-line backpack brand names are REI, ArcTeryx, and GoLite
